She's doing okay, but I think her health is going to be a roller coaster ride from here on in. That's okay as long as the ups outweigh the downs.
Claire says:
She's been doing well for the most part, but has started to over-groom a bit, thankfully up until now she has been able to expel the extra fur from either end, which she hasn't been able to do all the time in the past. She's going to see the vet tomorrow to be looked over, and so we can discuss some strategies to deal with this new behaviour.
Claire says:
Yep, she seems to be on the mend. The vet gave her a steroid shot that lasts a month to keep her pancreas inflammation down to give her a chance to build up her strength. That was about 7 weeks ago, and she's still holding her own, so fingers crossed...

Back home, resting comfortably (morphine is a helluva drug) but things aren't looking too promising for my girl. After complete bloodwork an x-ray and given her symptoms and history, her Vets have some theories, but still can't pin down the specific problem. The recommended course of action was to take her over to the main Vet emergency hospital in Toronto and drop her off for 2 or 3 days of observation, and have ultra sounds done for a better look at her innards. Even with her insurance policy, that is way beyond my means. She's been sicker than this and pulled through on her own before and she's going to have to do that again this time...

My Vet's facebook page posted this pic of a recent patient. I thought it was a Maine Coon, but it turns out it's a Norwegian Forest Cat. Pretty striking!
