I've been lucky. All three of the brothers have blocked at various times over the years, but none needed surgery. And so far the kittens haven't had issues.
Ahhhh dear Haiku Neko ... so sorry to read you have had to have this procedure. One of my past kitties - Quigley - had to have the surgery probably about 35 years ago - it was very scary then - in fact he had to have it done twice. At least it's marvelous they can cure the situation if found. I try to tell people with male kitties to always be alert to piddle problems and to every once in a while - stand them up in front of you with their back to you and feel down their lower belly and make sure that the bladder is NOT the size of a baseball. Prayers for your quickly recovery Haiku --- what a great parent you are to take such good care of him! xoxox
Aaah, yes! This is a common procedure in male cats that are susceptible UTI's. Not too bad of a procedure, but there's really no good ones when you're aiting for them to go though it, is there? At least now he'll probably have no dealings with a UTI again.
Haïku again had small crystals in the urine. The surgery - as far as Iunderstand - was to derivate his urethra, giving him about the urinary system of a female. It seems that there is some kind of cartilage around the urethra in the penis of male cats, which only allows for a really narrow passage.
Bienvenue de retour à la maison Haiku!!! Je suis heureux d'apprendre que tu es okay. :) Que dit le vétérinaire était le problème ? BTW tu habites où ? En Belgique ?
