I'd put up flyers in the area with this shot, along with some of the others you have of him before he disappeared, and then put your story on it, and say maybe that you realize he's well taken care of, but would like to know where's he's been living all this time. Maybe even talk to vets in the area? He's certainly been taken care of, and possibly one of the vets in your area might know the story.
just last night thought of that idea about the collar. I was just in total shock I was shaking and I was so excited to see him that I wasn't thinking straight maybe it was supposed to happen that way... I also was wary that it might not be him I just could not believe it we have several strays in the neighborhood and some look like Herman I'm often saying to my husband " I had a Herman siting!" the day he came to visit I had my camera ready thankfully and shot some video of him I've been watching it over and over thank you for your posts. thank you for your good words Ps. Maybe I could put up flyers? Not sure what I i would say any ideas?
Whatever happens, you did indeed get a gift of knowing his fate. Most people never know what happens to their pet when they disappear. Herman is obviously being well cared for and loved, and you gave him so much love that he returned 6 years later to say hello. It's very big of you that you can let him choose his own fate -- I don't think I'd have that strength. I really hope, though, that if he does return and hang around, that you might think of putting a collar with a note with yours and his story on it. You may well find that he's been very close by these 6 years, and if so, possibly you and his other family could both keep him in your lives.
After 6 years it's a miracle handsome Herman has returned to you, hopefully for good! I'm very glad for you because it sounds like a terrible nightmare to think you lost your beloved pet forever...=^..^=
I so wanted to force him in the house but I didn't want him to run screaming from my arms out of fear. Herman is a very gallant cat. He loves nature and rarely wanted to be in the house. I'm sad now I didn't force him to. I'm am choosing to look at his visit as a dear gift. It was.
He has doubled in size. Maybe someone is feeding him whole trout..I say teasingly. I'm jealous of those he his calling his family now. He loves people. He'll go to almost anyone. Man...this is hard.
I can't believe it, this is the best news I've heard in many years!!! So glad Herman is back, I often thought of him and what happened for him to go missing for such a long time...and now he's back!!! YAY!!!!!
Incredible, wonderful really great ! Herman doesn't look like a stray at all, I am sure, too that he had found a home during all the years you were looking for him. I am very happy for you and hope that Herman will stay forever now !
Hello all, thank you for your comments. I'm amazed too. I thought we would never see Hermie again. I'm sad this morning that I didn't grab him and bring him in yesterday. But there was something different in his eyes, like he had been through some things I wouldn't understand. I didn't want to scare him. I pray he comes when I call today and I can get one of his fantastic hugs. He is a lover. I made some video of him yesterday, If anyone wants to see I can email to you. Nice to see so many cat lovers here. In answer to your question pmgr111, Herman only ran away once, and that was 6 years ago. We did have Black Kitty, and I will post his story soon, that traveled a few miles to return to our old house when we moved.
We are so blessed that God gifted us with our little furry friends. How are you Iluvcats and lele mark...been a long time!
6 years - 6 years - oh my gosh - this is a miracle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm ecstatic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I must tell the world to never, ever give up if your baby goes missing! I'm so, so happy for you all and for Herman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, just WOW! This is absolutely amazing! He looks great, I wouldn't be surprised if someone had taken him in close by and kept him as an indoor only cat all these years, and perhaps he got out through an open door or something. Keep an eye out for lost cat fliers with his picture! I'm really dumb-founded -- this was one of the saddest things I saw on here when he went missing, and the years went by, and you occasionally posted a picture , and said miracles DO happen. He went missing the year my Daisy passed away, so it was always a pretty sad thing to see this on here, knowing despite giving hope that he was almost certainly gone forever. Well, miracles DO happen after all!
How many time has Herman left. I wasn't familiar with your story and just looked back at your pictures and it looks like he left more than once. I guess he's about 14 now. I hope he stays with you.
