He just said that that particular food -- the Blue Buffalo dry grain-free, is the most associated of any dry food with this problem. He didn't elaborate if it was just in his practice and experience, or if this has been substantiated by a bigger study. The irony is that I bought this 2 months ago because the Taste of the Wild dry grain free was giving Storm some urinary problems. None of the other cats have had problems with the Blue Buffalo. And, all my cats have had UTI's at one point or another over the years. This is the first full-blown blockage I've had.
Did the vet say there was a problem with the brand Blue Buffalo or was it the fact that he was eating dry food? Just wondering since I have been using the Blue Buffalo.
I just saw your message today about his situation. I hope he is completely well soon. Sorry to hear this happened. I have been feeding my cats the Blue Buffalo dry food along with Wellness wet food. I went down to the pet store today and got Wellness dry food and I'm taking the remainder of my Blue Buffalo back. I'm glad I saw your message.
I went to visit him this morning. He's doing fine. He was depressed when I walked in, but cheered right up when he saw me, so he knows he's not abandoned. I had to leave after about 15 minutes because he was quickly "spooling up", even on the narcotics they have him on. He should be home in a few days. They're just waiting for his kidney levels to come back down.
