So they probably didn't have constant food living out on their own. They would only get to eat what they would catch unless someone was feeding them. Maybe that's the difference. I hope the new one settles down.
I just weighted them. The new one is 5.07 pounds, Baby is 6.2 pounds!! He's putting on weight like crazy, and he shares food with the other 3. When I trapped him, he was a little over 5 pounds too.
Baby 2 is calming down, and has the crazies at sunrise as predicted. It sounds like a gorilla is bouncing around in the room. Baby 1 hangs around outside the door in the hall, but when he's let into the room he immediately hisses and snarls at his brother, who does little questioning trills back at him. Cats are so strange.
Poor baby! I hope he soon realizes what a special he has been taken to. Hopefully he will settle in very quickly and become part of the group. Or at least be able to be in the presence of the group. Sweet thing - I'm sure the last few days have been very difficult for him. Sending you my thanks TeleMark for taking such good care of this one as well.
He got out of the cage again overnight!!! And that toy mouse in the picture is in little tiny pieces -- I'm hoping he didn't eat any. The cage (for all its worth) will be upstairs today, and he'll only be in the cage when unattended, otherwise he'll be in the closed room. I'm sure it's kitten energy that's causing him to go berserk overnight, Baby was the same way.
Ahh honey - sorry about your little nosey ... I'm sure he's just so not used to someone trying to take such good care of him. Sending positive vibes he's in the fold very soon. Hugs to all in tele-mark-ville!
He's doing better today. But he trashed his cage again overnight and made a sore on his nose apparently trying to get out of the cage, but its not as bad as the pic makes it look. I think he just goes crazy at dawn like Baby did. I'll take the food and water out before dawn now. He lets me pick him up (with gloves) and move him short distances. I put flea treatment on today, and will dose him again tonite, then tomorrow I'll move him into the spare room. I think he'll be purring in a few days.
