It's both sad but true. It's why we went for rescue home cats when we got ours - with the exception of Carrots who found us of course! Bless our furry friends and those who are not so fortunate.
in Spain it's not very easy for black cats too, but it's not easy for any cat in general in these times. In many places cats are a resource and a protection against mice, and they're easily replaceable, and although most people love cats, the humane societies don't have enough hand and resources to save the cats they rescue.
Ha! Either that Eli or they are masking themselves with our scent. I love black cats (we have 2 of them) I don't know where you are based but here in the UK there have been lots of stories about how difficult it is to get homes for black cats. I have had cats since I was a child but we have always taken in whatever cat was availabel and needed a home regardless of colour or gender. Ferris along with his sister Nash are from a rescue home for abused animals, Carrots turned up one freezing cold night. Lucky for us humans as well as the felines we found each other!
