It lifted my heart to see your baby returned to you! Coincidentally, I was thinking about declawing - primarily that I wished I'd never done it to my boy. That was 13 years ago, before I knew better.
Neuter, neuter, neuter but please do not declaw. He will stay close to his Momma.
Soo glad Ollie is back! I was terribly worried!! But I agree with Vanessa, Carmen and Marco, don't declaw him, this will help nothing. Much better neuter him, it calms down a cat a lot!
I'm really happy to see Ollie came back at last! But I agree with Carmen and Vanessa: don't declaw him, since claws are his primary "tools" to defend himself and hunt... Usually neutering a cat is a better measure to calm him down; they say that pheromons too can have a benefic effect on their attitude.
AMEN and praise the Lord!!! Whew .... Ollie, Ollie, Ollie - - keep him close Dale!!! Your little family needs all the stability and peace it can get!!! Soooooo glad for this happy update!!! XOXOXOXOXOX
If little Ollie is feral, he needs his claws even more - neutering is normally what calms them down and makes them want to stay home more .... right now, WELCOME HOME OLLIE, AND PLEASE DON'T SCARE YOUR POOR MOM LIKE THAT ANY MORE!!!
Oh Dale, thank goodness he is back!!!!!!!!!!! What a terrifying few hours for you both, I am sure ...... even more for poor little Ollie - without his hearing, he probably feels very vulnerable, and scared. Please think twice about de-clawing him tho' - I don't believe it will make him any more settled, and if he does escape again and doesn't come back, his claws are all he has to defend himself, and more importantly to catch things to feed himself ...
He came back, terrified and scared, he broke a gorgeous oriental planter i had by the door. i left food and his favorite cherry yogurt outside the poor, propped the door open. tried to lay down at 4:30am and I heard a crash/explosion and it was him breaking the planter and screaming to get in. he is acting very weird. i gave him a kitty tranquilizer when i tried to go back to sleep and i let him in my room with me. he slept under the dresser then the covers.
he is feral i think i will have to de-claw him to settle him down so he is happy here and stops breaking things and screaming all night, but this is a TOUGH decision to make. i am happy he is home my little boy missed us, i think. thank you for your loving thoughts and support my dear friends.
