Thanks! A big part of the of the success of this rescue goes to the mystery motorcyclist who bothered to stop for a tiny kitten on the shoulder of a busy highway, and Kim, the worker at the gas station who took Princess from him and took her home. All I did was print up the ad and put it down there at the gas station. And as a reward, I get to take care of this incredible little cat until Mom can get her.
Amazing, what a story. I'm so glad you found her and I hope they don't try letting her go on a truck run in the future. Cats aren't predictable like a dog can be. No matter how much "training" you might be able to give a cat they don't have the temperament to go on a road trip like that.
This is Princess. She's from Missouri, is about 8 weeks old, and had had quite and adventure. Her mom's boyfriend is a long haul trucker, and had her with him during a freight run. He stopped at a gas station late at night last week, opened the door of the truck, and Princess bolted out the door and ran into the woods across a highway! She wasn't found, and the man continued on his was, and they placed an ad in Craigslist Lost and Found. I spotted the ad 2 days ago, and decided to act, as this was about 20 minutes from me. I printed up the ad, went to the gas station the next morning, left the flyers, and searched the woods across the street to no avail. A few hours later, I got an email from the woman saying Princess was found.
What happened was that 2 days before, a motorcyclist found her on the side of the highway, covered with pine sap and very scared. He took her to the gas station and gave her to a woman working at the pizza shop inside, telling her he couldn't take her on his motorcycle. So the woman took her home. 2 days later, I left the flyer on the counter before the pizza shop opened, and the woman found it when she came in, and called the mom. I offered to foster her until they figure out when they can come up here from Missouri to get her, so I have a visitor for awhile!!
