That's fine I think, no stress for your boys. Moritz was very much afraid at midnight like always, I had to sit beside him, pet him and talk to him. Paulinchen was okay, she slept the noise away. Since she is almost deaf, she does not care about the firework anymore......

This is incredibly quiet here. I didn't even hear any fireworks here on July 4th!

I think you're right pmgr. The old bed is also made of shredded remnants tof memory foam, while the new one is made like a real mattress, one layer of base foam with a layer of memory foam on it. So they can't sink into it like the old bed.

thanks for the update on Mikesch - his nose looks a lot better too! If you spray one little mist of liquid cat nip on the bed, they will use it - promise! I used this for my cat's (gulp :) little electric blanket on the chair next to my bed. It worked and now I have my bed to myself at night now ;))

So happy to learn Mikesh is settling down.

So glad to hear about the marvelous progress Mikesch is doing. He will mellow with time and next year this time he will sit on your lap, you'll see!

I did see them on line, thanks. The new bed you have doesn't have a nice soft cover which is probably why they prefer the old one, I looked at another of your pictures of it. If you have an old blanket around the house or some fuzzy fabric you could try putting it on the new bed. They'll probably start using both of them then.

The new mattress came off of Amazon. The original one came off of one of those garbage clearance websites I can't remember the name of. I'll post it here next time I get one of their junk catalogs! This product turned out great. Try Googling" Serta memory foam pet bed".

Maybe the cover on the old one is fluffier or fuzzier. It looks like it is. Where do you get these beds?

PS -- notice the brand new, human grade memory foam mattress to the right. I transposed the old and new mattress position to see if they'd start using the new one, and lo -- they are on the old mattress, and the new mattress I'd kill to sleep on sits unused! I should've save the box it came in, it'd get more use, LOL!

The craziness is out of Mikesh's eyes now. When he's under the bed, you can pet him, and he's as relaxed as any house cat. He's out from under the sofa for most of the day now, and wants to play with the laser pointer and string more than anything. He still can't be approached when he's in the open -- he'll panic and run away if you approach him closer than 3 feet, but he's much better than ever before. He's also eating with everyone else now, I no longer have to move him into the cat room to feed him, but when I do, I get hissed at like always!
